about 1 hour outside of Iquitos, Peru in the summer of 2010.

The models were all body painted as African birds.
I had 30 minutes to complete each person.

Haudenosaunee Bear Clan
This painting is from a series that I am creating where
I am painting the nine Iroquois clans.
This is the color study – the basic under structure of color that I lay down before I paint more details.
Many people told me it was already very strong, so I entered it in the competition.

Yesterday I was walking in the forest.
The landscape had been painted masterfully
with the finest of snow, wind, and tree paints.
I was so filled with the knowledge
that my life and soul are
utterly blessed, that I fell down
on my knees and cried with joy
for a half hour.
I opened my eyes and looked at the
snow. My tears had created the shape
of a bird flying.
